A mould base serves as a semi-finished product for plastic injection and die casting moulds, consisting of various plates and precision components. The diagram shows a typical mould base structure. During injection moulding, the two halves come together, allowing molten plastic to form within the mould cavity. After solidification, the mould separates, and the ejector system, primarily housed in the lower mould, pushes the finished product out.
Whether it’s injection moulding or die casting, the forming process occurs under high pressure when the A/B plates are clamped together. These A/B plates are considered the most critical plates within the mould. For applications requiring greater strength and durability, high-grade carbon steel or alloy steel is used to ensure A/B plates withstand extreme working conditions. In cases where special surface finishes—such as polished or textured surfaces—are required, premium mould steel inserts are embedded within the A/B plates. This approach balances product quality with cost control.
